Gasgoo Munich- Automotive electronics technology firm AUMOVIO Group has officially launched its next-generation electro-hydraulic braking product: the distributed braking system. The system delivers enhanced braking performance within a more compact structure and has secured its first production contract from a leading Chinese automaker, with mass production slated to begin by the end of 2027.Image source: AUMOVIOThe distributed braking system combines the technological strengths of AUMOVIO's MK C series integrated braking system and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). It achieves fully electronic control from the brake pedal to safety redundancy functions, built on a modern electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture.Architecturally, the system uses a dual-actuator collaborative mode. Unlike current integrated braking systems for high-level autonomous driving—where typically one actuator handles normal operations while the other serves as a backup—this system employs both actuators during normal driving to generate greater braking force as needed. In degraded safety scenarios, both actuators retain the ability to operate independently to execute braking functions.Notably, the system maintains four-wheel braking capability even in safety degraded mode, whereas most similar systems in this mode can only control two to three wheels. This feature makes it particularly suitable for high-level autonomous driving scenarios, supporting applications up to SAE Level 5 (L5).In terms of spatial layout, the elimination of the traditional mechanical hydraulic link between the brake pedal and the braking system allows almost all components—aside from the electronic pedal—to be flexibly arranged in the vehicle's front compartment. This frees up installation space for larger items, such as high-voltage batteries, while also increasing the flexibility of actuator placement.Furthermore, the system features a multi-path power supply and redundant electrical network design. Its unified electronic brake pedal solution is adaptable to various vehicle architectures—including left-hand drive, right-hand drive, internal combustion, and electric models—eliminating the need to develop multiple versions for different vehicles. This helps reduce costs across research and development, production, and logistics.According to AUMOVIO, the distributed braking system is compatible with pure electric vehicles, hybrid models, and the new generation of internal combustion vehicles featuring redundant E/E architectures.Public data shows that AUMOVIO holds 120 years of technical heritage in vehicle safety. Its MK C series integrated braking system has generated cumulative sales of over 15 million units since its launch in 2016.
