Lexus · OtherLuxury cars have a reputation for depreciating faster than your enthusiasm at a Monday morning meeting. Most lose value fast — about 30% in the first two years alone, according to Kelley Blue Book. But some luxury vehicles actually defy the odds, holding their value better than their peers. We talked to Melanie Musson, an auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org, to identify which ones. We also did our own research to find which luxury cars keep their shine (and their value) after you drive them off the lot.The result? A collection of five models that'll let you enjoy the luxury life without watching your investment evaporate.Lexus RX 350If you want a luxury SUV that won't punish you at resale, the pre-2023 Lexus RX 350 is your answer. According to Musson, the naturally aspirated engines in older models are "less problematic than turbocharged engines." She recommended sticking with 2022 models or older for peak reliability. The KBB Fair Purchase Price lands between $37,000 and $41,300. In Kelley Blue Book's (KBB's) review, Colin Ryan noted that while the 2022 RX "isn't the most exciting luxury vehicle to drive, it's strong, reliable and useful, as well as being classy, comfortable and well-built."Lexus GX 460Though Lexus upgraded this model to the GX 550 starting in 2024, Musson recommended the 460. The 2023 models and older "are sought after by buyers prioritizing reliability," she said. With room for seven, this is a great vehicle for a larger family, though the third row is cramped, according to Eric Brandt's KBB review. As far as value, KBB Fair Purchase Price is between $49,800 and $54,600, and it's depreciated 21% in the last 3 years.Lexus RC FThis smaller luxury coupe went out of production in 2025, so you'll need to look for a 2025 or older model. Musson praised the vehicle as "very powerful and fun to drive," and again credited the naturally aspirated engine as a major reason it retains value. The Lexus RC F Final Edition is priced at $94,000 by KBB — steep entry, but Musson noted its desirability as another lead factor in holding value. Worth it if you want thrills with your investment.Acura RDXThe Acura RDX holds its value remarkably well even at high mileage, thanks to its reputation for dependability. A five-year-old model (like a 2021) has only depreciated 28% in three years, making it a smart buy for those wanting the biggest bang for their buck. While Acura is planning a hybrid overhaul for 2028, current models remain solid investments. In his review for KBB, Ryan called it a "well-made premium compact crossover" with an attractive blend of "value for money, great safety features, practicality, dependability, an athletic yet comfortable ride and yes, even some road presence. " Best part? The KBB Fair Purchase Price is a bargain for luxury: $24,700 to $27,000.Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63The G-Wagon is Mercedes' weird exception to the depreciation rule. While most Mercedes crater in value, the G 63 is hardwired for retention. "Many buyers can sell the AMG G 63 for close to what they paid for it," Musson said. The catch? They're notoriously hard to find.If you do score one, the numbers back up the hype. A 2022 model has actually gained over $6,000 in value from 2025 to now, with a current resale value of $140,000. That's the kind of holding power most luxury cars can only dream of.The Bottom LineThese five vehicles prove that reliability, desirability and smart buying can protect your money. The strategy? Hunt for older model years that have already weathered the steepest value drops, prioritize proven engines over flashy turbos and don't confuse "cheap" with "good deal." With the right choice, you can drive luxury without watching your investment evaporate. This article was provided by MoneyLion.com for informational purposes only and should not be construed as financial, legal or tax advice.More From MoneyLion:Save Up to $1,100 on Car Insurance in MinutesGet a Free Gold IRA Guide From Forbes' Most Trusted Gold Company, Plus Up to $25K in Bonus SilverLooking to Buy Investment Properties?
