The Indian food delivery service Zomato plans to integrate 50,000 electric two-wheelers into its fleet over the next two years. Sun Mobility is to provide its battery swap solutions for this purpose.
Zomato is an online ordering and food delivery platform based in Gugurgam, India. Currently, the company has somewhere around 5,000 employees. The company was originally founded in 2008, and expanded to foreign markets, including United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Qatar, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and South Africa in 2012.
The Indian company is planning to go fully electric by 2030, according to their commitment to the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative
“By deploying 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato’s fleet, we are reducing our carbon footprint by 5000 MT/month and contributing to a cleaner environment. We believe that this association will not only benefit the environment but also provide a better experience for delivery partners and the customers,” said CEO Anant Badjatya.
Sun Mobility announced another electric two-wheeler partnership last year with Hero Electric. In that constellation, Hero Electric had provided the scooters, while Sun Mobility had provided its smart battery-swapping technology.
