In recent times, BAIC has changed its product strategy to include two new SUV models, namely the B40 Plus and Beijing X55. They have entered the market offering hatch, sedan and crossover models. The BAIC X25 first made its local appearance in 2017 and has remained one of the more attractive models on offer from the Chinese automaker. The X25 is offered in two trims namely, Comfort and Fashion, the latter incorporating a better infotainment system and a reverse camera.
Both the Comfort and Fashion guises are powered by identical 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engines, capable of 85 kW and 148 Nm of torque and promise a claimed average fuel consumption return of 6.5 L / 100 km. X25 1.5 Comfort
The X25 in Comfort guise is the entry point in the model range. While still offering modern exterior and interior design, the model omits some of the standard technologies found in the more premium Fashion variant. Note that although the model was offered with both manual and automatic transmissions at its local launch, the X25 is now only available with a 5-speed manual.
For this reason, we will be looking at the manual derivatives only and for the Comfort derivative, looking at how well 2018 model year units have retained their value until now.

X25 1.5 Fashion
The BAIC X25 1.5 Fashion is the more premium offering as it retains a better infotainment system with a reverse camera incorporated too. Once again, the Fashion trim was originally offered in automatic and manual configurations. For this example, we will be focussing on the manual derivatives only. After researching the available used X25 Fashion models with manual transmissions, the earliest examples are the 2020 model year.

Used average mileage: 29 887 km
Value retained: 73.89%
Verdict
Based on the age and mileage in the examples above, it seems as though the lower-specified Comfort derivatives have managed to retain more of their original value, as, over a period of three years and nearly 50 000 km, the model only lost 27.29% of its initial value. This is while the higher-specified Fashion variants lost 26.11% in only two years and nearly 30 000 km.
As such, if you want the most out of your BAIC X25, the Fashion trim is the one to have, but if you want to retain as much value as possible, the Comfort guise seems to perform better.
