The launch of the newest lifestyle off-roader, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, is just around the corner. Even before its official launch, the model has garnered an extensive amount of interest in the country. The new Maruti SUV will take on rivals like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in India. For this reason, a number of people have started comparing these models on paper and simulations. Recently, a video surfaced online of an owner of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha visiting a Nexa dealership to check out the new Jimny, and in the video, the owner gives his honest opinions on the new SUV.
The video of a lifestyle off-roader SUV owner’s opinion has been shared on YouTube by DCV Expeditions on their channel. The video starts with the owner leaving the Nexa dealership in his Tata Nexon Dark Edition. The owner begins by saying that after seeing the car in person, he has become a little confused. He states that the car came to Faridabad where he lives after quite some time compared to other cities like Gurgaon and Delhi. The presenter then reveals that he had booked the car a day after the commencement of bookings during the 2023 Auto Expo.
Following this, he starts off with his overall thoughts on the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The presenter states that in terms of overall size, the car looks a lot smaller in person. He adds that even when compared to the Gypsy, it looks a lot smaller because most of the Gypsys around have been modified. He also states that many people present at the dealership were comparing the Jimny with the Thar and were stating that it looks a little beastly. However, he believes that it does not look like a beast but rather looks very cute. He then adds that his main concern was that it might look disproportionate because of the added doors, but he states that it looks very proportionate and smart in person.
After this, he mentions that the wheels and tires on the Jimny seemed very small. According to him, they should be immediately replaced if someone wants to use the car for off-road purposes. He states that the tires on the Jimny are a hybrid between all-terrain and highway tires and are very narrow. Moving on, he then starts to talk about the interior of the Jimny. The first thing he states is that the quality of the interior is far better than the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. He adds that the buttons feel very good and tactile and are leagues above the Gurkha and the Thar.
Following this, he states that the front seats had a good amount of comfort and had decent under-thigh support. However, he then adds that the rear seats of the Jimny are very uncomfortable and small. They lack a lot of under-thigh support, and the base of the seats is very small. He adds that the recline angle on the rear seats is also very small, and mostly the rear passengers will be seated at a steep angle. Moving on, he adds that the boot space on the Jimny is a lot better than the non-existent space in the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Lastly he states that the car will definitely be reliable as it belongs to Maruti Suzuki and overall the car will be good but it might not be the best fit for him. He added that the final call on the Jimny will be taken when the company announces its pricing.
