Everyone knows the Mercedes-AMG One will be a brutal performance machine. After all, its powertrain was derived from the most dominant Formula 1 team in recent history. Still, there’s always the question of how brutal it will be on the racetrack. The folks at Mercedes-AMG and driver Maro Engel went to the Nürburgring to lay down a blisteringly quick lap, topping 210 mph.
The Mercedes-AMG One lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just over six minutes and 35 seconds. That’s quick. For reference, that’s 22 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder and eight seconds quicker than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS that was fitted with the Manthey Performance Kit. However, this is more than a minute slower than the mind-altering Porsche 919 lap laid during the car’s farewell tour. That means future AMG One owners will be happy to know that their upcoming hypercar will probably be the quickest machine at their local track day.
The Mercedes-AMG One uses its production 1.6-liter V6 hybrid powertrain riding on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2Rs, which is the tire that your AMG One will be wearing when it heads to your collection. The Mercedes-AMG One will be a rare sight with only 275 scheduled for the production line, but it could go down in history as one of the most absurd cars ever built.
