This should come in handy when you're engaged in some spirited driving.
The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is the most technologically advanced 'Vette to date, and that means it deserves a special app for fast driving. The E-Ray's built-in performance app features a display (found within the vehicle's infotainment system) with several useful features, particularly for owners who like to drive their E-Rays hard. Developed specifically for this electrified Corvette, it comprises three primary displays, each of which focuses on a different part of the car's performance.
“The app really aims to visually depict the complex advanced propulsion and chassis controls that this car has to provide transparency to the driver,” said Carolyn Sweeney, calibration engineer for battery systems at Chevrolet.

The gauges screen shows dynamic power output from the 495-horsepower LT2 6.2-liter V8 and the 160-hp permanent magnetic drive motor in real-time, while the dyno display shows power and torque curves over selectable intervals. Finally, the data screen focuses on electric performance and overall efficiency. This one may be the most used, as it shows the driver how much fuel they have saved or charge they have gained.
The driver can view information for the current trip, compare it to previous journeys, and even reset it to monitor energy usage on a road trip, for example.
It's slightly gimmicky, but it helps to foster a relationship between car and driver.

“E-Ray is the most technologically advanced Corvette we have ever developed,” said Stefan Frick, energy integration engineer. “The performance app really is going to give you that confidence and 'very connected, intuitive, tied-in' feel with what the driver is asking for.”
Since the E-Ray is perfectly suited to high-performance driving, this app seems like a neat way to show just how much engineering went into the car's powertrain and how it works in the real world and on track, which is a place the E-Ray was almost banned from.
But even without this app, the E-Ray is a hit with legions of loyal Chevy fans, some of whom even camped outside a dealership overnight to get a jump on its release earlier this year.
