When GT cars get together on the 'Ring, everyone wins.
When two titans get together on the Nürburgring, everyone wins. At least, that’s how we feel after watching a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS and a Cayman GT4 modified by Manthey Racing battle it out on the Green Hell.
The former is Porsche’s first and only mid-engine RS car, equipped with a 4.0-liter flat-six from the GT3. Like in the 911, it revs all the way to 9000 rpm, making 493 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque in the process. It’s aided by an improved downforce kit, bigger brakes, and numerous suspension changes. At the opposite corner sits the 718 Cayman GT4 MR. Based on the normal GT4, it gets a smattering of aero and suspension improvements as well, plus a set of forged BBS wheels.
Both cars were built to go as quickly as humanely possible around the Nürburgring. So it’s no surprise they’re roughly equal when it comes to pace. ‘Ring regular Xthilox on YouTube captured the entire lap from his MR, chasing down the RS through a relatively uncrowded tourist session. Please, make sure to turn the volume up.
