- Is a Ford Tremor package the same as a Raptor package?
- What options does the Super Duty Tremor have?
Ford has been making just about all of its pickups with the muscle truck Raptor package. That is, except for the Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks. But now a Super Duty engineering manager has said there could be a Super Duty Raptor coming. You just have to be asking for it.

That’s what Aaron Bresky told Ford Authority. Specifically, he said, “There’s nothing limiting this as far as I’m concerned, and we’re always listening to our customers.” So if you want to see a Super Duty Raptor truck, you need to start flooding Ford with requests for one.
This isn’t to say that Ford doesn’t want its heavy-duty trucks to have a performance option. For 2023 it will make available the Tremor off-road package for Super Duty trucks. It is Ford’s answer for a more rugged off-road pickup. The company has the Tremor package for the Maverick and F-150 trucks, too. But it is one step lower than the Raptor offering for those trucks.

So in Ford’s hierarchy, there could, or should, be something that signifies the top-of-the-line for a Super Duty truck. And that would be a Raptor, not a Tremor.
Ford has saturated its Raptor high-performance package across the Maverick, Ranger, Bronco, and F-150 truck lines. In fact, the F-150 line gets the Raptor R package.

Alas, the Super Duty truck buyers must contend with only the Super Duty Tremor. With the Super Duty Tremor, Ford adds 35-inch Goodyear DuraTrac tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels. There is also an upgraded, lifted suspension, running boards, skid plates, and a Warn winch.
One slick feature for 2023 that it adds from the Bronco is the Trail Turn Assist. This engages the inside rear brakes for tight turns. It is a necessary feature you didn’t know you needed until you found out about it.

Both the Godzilla 6.8-liter and 7.3-liter gas engines are available with the Tremor package. So a Super Duty Raptor version would have to improve on the 7.3-liter’s performance numbers. Hypothetically, it should be able to feature a 6,500 lb towing capacity, with zero-to-60 in under five seconds. And it would really need to add an electronically-controlled front anti-sway bar to disconnect when extra travel going off-road is necessary.
The bottom line is that Ford should already be developing what a Super Duty Raptor package would contain. Whether it is something it can bring out mid-year in 2023, or it holds off until 2024, we expect to be hearing more soon. In the meantime, start hounding Ford for it to see that there is some heavy demand for a Super Duty Raptor.
