The new EX90 is going to get a large freestanding 14,5-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment display in the centre of the dashboard. Luminated natural wood used for the dashboard is also taken from sustainable sources. The EX90 is now Volvo’s flagship model and is by far the safest car the manufacturer has ever built, with a remote sensing system that uses a pulsed laser, the firm claims it can identify a pedestrian from 250 metres away.
The design team from Volvo mentioned that the exterior of the EX90 was inspired by a yacht design, this is interpreted by the smooth lines and proud front end that is more rounded for easy airflow. The sides of the car have also been flattened where possible, including the use of pop-out flush door handles and flush glazing on the windows. The new model is built on a new dedicated EV platform called SPA2, which has been developed by Volvo and parent firm Geely for a range of models.
