VW will apparently recall around 10,000 units of the ID.3 and ID.4 electric models worldwide. This number includes around 3,000 electric cars in Germany.
The electric car rental company Nextmove has reported the upcoming recall, citing communication from the manufacturer to its dealer network.
VW has “determined that battery cells have been installed in the high-voltage battery on ID.3 and ID.4 vehicles of a limited production period, which show an increased self-discharge due to a manufacturing defect”.
Customers will be informed by the dealers and asked to come to the workshop, where the defective battery modules will be replaced if necessary.
