Prices to increase by up to $2000 across most of Volkswagen Australia’s model range
Volkswagen Australia has announced it will increase prices across the majority of its model range as of July 1.
The price hikes vary between $240 and $2000 depending on the model variant, many of which will enter the new financial year without any specification upgrades.
Only two model lines will be completely exempt from the price changes – the 2023 Volkswagen T-Cross small SUV and the Touareg large SUV, which will be facelifted early next year.

However, it should be noted that the prices outlined in this article have not come into effect yet and that VW will price-protect any locked-in purchase contracts signed by June 30.
A full pricing table outlining every change can be found below and all prices listed here exclude on-road costs.
Starting from the bottom of the range, price rises for the Volkswagen Polo vary between $240-$440 and the entry-level Life manual will start at $25,990 (+$240), with the flagship GTI hit with the biggest increase (+$440) at $39,690.

The increases are more substantial on the next-size-up Golf range and will vary between $1100 and $2000, the former of which has been applied to the entry-level automatic ($36,290) while the flagship Golf R Wagon will be slapped with the full-fat $2000 hike ($71,990).
Only the VW Golf GTI hot hatch will retain its current $55,490 price tag, with the reverse being true of the Volkswagen T-Roc R (soon to be $61,990) – the only T-Roc variant to be hit with any sort of price alteration, but it’s one of the larger increases within the overall portfolio at $1690.
Prices for the Volkswagen Tiguan will increase by between $400 and $700, with the smaller margins applying at the lower end of the range and the bigger ones towards the top.
This means the medium SUV’s admission price will rise to $42,890 (+400) for the 110TSI Life come July 1 and top out at $71,190 for the R, however, the Tiguan R Grid Edition and 162TSI Monochrome will stay put at $63,990 and $53,390 respectively.
Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace
Similar premiums will be applied to the seven-seat Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, which will open the new financial year priced from $44,890 (+$400) in 110TSI Life guise and crest at $62,390 (+$600) for the 147TDI R-Line.
Back in passenger-car land, the mid-size Passat line-up will rise by $600 across the board – to start at $51,390 – whereas the swoopy Arteon flagship will climb by $600-$800 to open from $64,590 in 140TSI Elegance form.
In a statement issued to local media today, a Volkswagen Australia spokesperson said existing orders and orders placed before June 30 would be price-protected, but order books for certain model variants remain closed amid ongoing supply issues.

“It is important we provide customers and dealerships advance notice of changes,” said VW.
“The only vehicles we are unable to accept orders on at this time are Golf R, and Tiguan 132TSI, 147TDI and 162TSI, though some existing stock remains for the latter – such as Monochrome and Adventure.”
Several key optional extras like panoramic sunroofs and certain equipment packages will also go up in price next week, but nowhere near to the same extent as the vehicles.
