All new for its second-generation debut in 2014, the Kia Soul’s new interior, exterior, and technology package charged ahead for its updated iteration, helping to maintain the popularity of the so-called ‘urban hatchback’.
The new interior and body rode atop an all-new chassis that clocks in 29 per cent stiffer than its predecessor, with extensive use of high-strength steel throughout. By stiffening the Soul’s structure, engineers had a better basis from which to tune the steering and suspension attached to it, with the goal of delivering the Soul’s most quiet and responsive ride yet.
At launch, a 130-horsepower Gamma 1.6-litre all-aluminum engine was offered, with an available 2.0-litre, 164-horsepower four-cylinder from the NU engine family available on higher end models. Depending on the engine and trim grade, both automatic and manual transmissions were on the options roster.
On board, look for a high-end infotainment touchscreen interface, satellite radio, Bluetooth, an available sunroof, an up-level Infinity stereo upgrade, mandated backup camera, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, HID headlamps, power seats, automatic climate control, and more.
