Jeep’s plan to fully electrify its U.S. portfolio by 2025 will lead to the launch of a Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe, Christian Meunier, the CEO of the Stellantis-owned global sport utility brand, revealed at 2022 Jeep 4xe Day on September 8, 2022. The regular Wagoneer, too, will get a 4xe variant, Meunier said at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show on September 14, 2022.
Design
Jeep will use special blue design cues to give the Grand Wagoneer 4xe a distinctive styling. Teasers have revealed blue tow hooks and a blue “e” letter on the charge port cover, and we expect a “4xe” badge with the “e” letter in blue on the tailgate as well. The charge port cover will located be on the left front fender, which would make nose-in parking at charging locations convenient. The company won’t overdo the blue treatment, as that could impact the model’s sophisticated character.

Specifications
Specifications of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe aren’t out yet. In fact, Jeep hasn’t even explicitly confirmed whether the Grand Wagoneer 4xe is a PHEV or an EV. However, Jim Morrison, the head of the brand in North America, indicated that it’ll be a PHEV, which makes more sense. For customers who want a pure electric Grand Wagoneer, the company will launch a separate, sportier-looking model code-named Wagoneer S.
“With an estimated combined range of over 500 miles, this vehicle is being designed to drive you the distance from New York (City), New York, to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with only one initial charge,” Morrison said while giving a sneak-peek at the exterior of the Grand Wagoneer 4xe. The word “combined” is of significance here, which confirms he was talking about a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain, not a pure electric powertrain.

Release Date
Meunier said at the 2022 Jeep 4xe day that the Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe will arrive in U.S. showrooms in 2024. This means that it could debut in the second half of 2023, with order books opening shortly after.
Price
The Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer are among the most expensive models in the current Jeep range. The former costs USD 58,995 in the base configuration, and the latter retails at USD 88,640 onwards (USD 20,800 more expensive than the base Cadillac Escalade which costs USD 79,795). The company will likely keep the base Grand Wagoneer EV price a five-digit figure, in the USD 95,000-99,000 range. The closest competitor will be Range Rover P440e, which costs USD 108,400.
