Limited to just 270 pristine examples, this special edition packs some truly exquisite touches
Exotic collaborations seem to be the current trend for motorcycle manufacturers. Just a few days ago, Ducati joined hands with Poltrona Frau to give us the XDiavel Nera, and now, leading British bikemaker Triumph has joined hands with exotic watchmaker Breitling to unveil the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition for 2022.
Only 270 of these special Speed Twins will go into production and customers will also get the option to purchase a Breitling Top Time Triumph limited edition chronograph at an extra price.
Triumph Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition
So what’s special about this limited edition model?
Well, for starters, the Speed Twin Breitling Edition comes wrapped in a distinctive polychromatic blue color inspired by the legendary 1951 Triumph Thunderbird, while also featuring hand-painted line detailing for further exclusivity.
Triumph has also thrown in billet machined clutch and alternator covers, which add to the bike’s retro character.
The highlight of the bike, though, is the ice-blue instrument cluster face, inspired by Breitling’s Triumph edition watch
Next, the limited edition model features a perforated black leather seat with stitched detailing, setting it apart from the standard Speed Twin.
Apart from all this, though, the highlight of the bike is its bespoke, unique instrument cluster. The twin dial setup takes inspiration from Breitling’s Triumph edition watch and gets standout ice-blue instrument faces. This is topped off by a special numbered handlebar clamp.
Fast Fact: The number 270 was selected to celebrate the 270-degree crank angle of the Speed Twin’s parallel-twin engine.
Finally, the Triumph Speed Twin Breitling edition comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the CEOs of Triumph and Breitling watches.
Triumph Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition Engine & Specs
Meanwhile, the bike remains unchanged engine-wise and makes 100PS and 112Nm, same as the standard 2021 Speed Twin
Underneath all the fancy touches, the Triumph Speed Twin Breitling edition is mostly the same as the 2021 Speed Twin.
It draws power from a 1,200cc, parallel-twin engine, same as the ’21 Speed Twin. With a 3PS increase compared to the 2020 model, the engine belts out 100PS and 112Nm. Further, Triumph claims the 2021 Speed Twin is more punchy, thanks to the peak torque kicking in 500rpm earlier than the older model.
However, the Speed Twin Breitling Edition employs premium fully-adjustable Ohlins springs at the rear, a step up from the standard model
As for underpinnings, the Triumph Speed Twin Breitling edition is built around a tubular steel chassis which is sprung on a 43mm Marzocchi fork at the front. The rear suspension, though, now comprises fully-adjustable Ohlins twin rear shocks with gloss black springs, which is a step up from the standard Speed Twin’s setup.
Meanwhile, braking prowess is via twin 320mm disc brakes clamped by Brembo M50 calipers at the front and a single 220mm disc with a Nissin caliper at the rear, same as the standard Speed Twin.
