Toyota and its luxury division, Lexus, brought several concepts and souped-up vehicles to SEMA 2022, and we’ve covered them all here. Let’s start with Toyota, shall we?
Toyota announced the debut of a new Trailhunter trim, to be made available on its trucks and SUVs. These will be outfitted with overland-ready components, reinforcements, and functionality straight from the factory. Might as well give the people what they want, right? Right.
The aforementioned was paired with Toyota’s new Associated Accessory Program (AAP), which will offer parts, components, and accessories from several Toyota partners, with the goal of enabling customers to personalize and enhance their vehicles. Like any “add-on,” the cost of the accessories can be rolled in with the customer’s monthly payment.

On the speedy side, the automaker brought a GR Corolla Rally Concept (pictured below) which sees the already-bonkers GR Corolla fitted with three-inch fender flares, integrated carbon-composite side skirts, a carbon-composite front splitter with a 4.5-inch overall length, and a huge custom-fabricated carbon-fiber rear wing. Also, OZ Racing wheels and adjustable TEIN Gravel Rally coilovers have been added.
The GR Supra ‘10-Second Twins’ isn’t the best name, but Toyota’s tweaking of two of these sports cars to make 620 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque – compared to the 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque the engine makes from the factory – more than makes up for it.

The GR86 Daily Drifter is exactly what you’d expect — an attainable car that can be driven daily and tear things up on a track. But how? An added HKS GT2 Supercharger Pro ZD8 kit with an intercooler and a MagnaFlow NEO Series cat-back performance exhaust system, giving it 300 horsepower. A CSF aluminum radiator, HPS silicone hoses, and an HKS Dry Carbon Fiber engine and fuse box cover are also part of the build.
The 2023 ‘Simba’ Sequoia by X Overland (pictured up top) and 2022 ‘Orion’ Tundra by X Overland starts our off-road portion. Clay and Rachelle Croft, co-founders of Expedition Overland and producers of the Expedition Overland (XO) television series, have taken a 2023 Toyota Sequoia Limited TRD Off-Road; and a 2022 Toyota Tundra Limited and added an Icon Vehicle Dynamics 3.0 CDEV (compression-damping electronic valve) suspension system, a Warn heavy-duty winch, beefed-up shocks, and a host of other off-road upgrades to make these two trucks ready for the wild outdoors.
The Sequoia TRD Pro Adventurer Westcott Designs Concept has been lifted, bolstered by upper control arms, trailing arms, Nitto® Recon Grapplers A/T tires, 20-inch light bar, six-inch fog lights, and a six-inch ditch light.
The FJ49, Megatourer, and Supertourer, a.k.a. the “Black Truck,” stem from the workshops of Patriot Campers, and push overlanding and off-road adventure. The FJ49 specifically is a 1977 FJ45 fitted with modern technologies and components; the Megatourer, alternatively, is a six-wheeled machine draped in aggressive looks and remarkable capabilities; and the Supertourer blends aggressive looks and capability for the less-travelled paths.

Experts from 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine have created “The Ultimate Overlanding Sequoia TRD Off-Road.” Modifications to the stock machine include a three-inch lift, upper control and trailing arms, Toyo Open Country M/T tires, a Warn winch recovery kit, and a variety of lights, along with much more.
On the Lexus side, we start with the track-focused DSport IS 600+ Project Build, a 600-horsepower IS with adjustable coilovers, and a 3.5L V6 engine fed by a pair of billet-compressor-wheel turbochargers. The Lexus Electrified Sport, meanwhile, boasts a wildly futuristic design, aims for a zero-to-60-mph time in the low two-second range, and wants to offer 430 miles (690 km) of range, thanks to future solid-state battery tech.

An LX 600 Urban Concept looks to give buyers big size, off-road capability with upgraded brakes, exhaust, and a host of exterior add-ons. Similarly, an LX 600 Alpine Lifestyle Concept features several off-road tweaks, including a Body Armour System, Rigid Industries lighting, and an aluminum rack system.
The outdoor theme continues with a GX 460 Overland Concept that wears a Warn winch system, higher approach angles, three CBI skid plates and more. A rear cargo area build-out sees plenty of camping, cooking, and recovery gear fitted, too.
Finally, the RX 500h F SPORT Performance AWD features a high-torque 2.4L turbo engine, six-speed automatic transmission inverter, and an electric motor, with an eAxle rear unit.
