PLUS highways has clarified that although the tolls will be free during the upcoming Raya celebrations, highway users are still required to scan their Touch ‘n Go (TnG) cards, SmartTag, and RFID tags. No charges will be imposed on users.
Managing Director of PLUS Malaysia Berhad, Datuk Azman Ismail, explains the reason behind the requirement is to allow the highway authority to keep a record of the traffic data.
Other than that, the requirement will also ensure road users will enter and exit the highway in an orderly manner.
For example, users who choose to enter the highway via RFID will have to exit the highway via the RFID lane. The same goes for TnG and SmartTag users.
Azman is also requesting all highway users to check the status of their cards to ensure a smooth journey during the Raya holidays and that they wouldn’t get stuck at the tolls.
Highway users are also encouraged to download the PLUS application to get the latest traffic situation along the highway through the live CCTV footage available on the app.
They are also encouraged to constantly check Waze and GoogleMaps to plan their journeys ahead of time.
