Mahindra’s hot new 4×4 already has a lot of street-cred to begin with and this handsomely done up example has taken things to the next level
The Mahindra Thar is one of the buyers’ first thoughts when looking for a capable off-road vehicle. It in fact is not just an off-road 4X4, but nowadays is more of a lifestyle SUV.
Buyers are often seen modifying their Thars that define their personality and taste in modern off-roaders. Sometimes these changes are unique and interesting and here is one such red Mahindra Thar that wears 20-inch after-market alloy wheels.
This new modified Mahindra Thar rides on 20-inch alloy wheels
The images of this modified red Mahindra Thar were uploaded on Instagram by kbtyres. Speaking of the modifications, the Thar here features a custom red paint job while what we also see are new 20-inch alloy wheels.
The alloy wheels not only look premium but also complement the overall profile of the Mahindra Thar. The low-profile tyres further enhance the looks and the width gives it a better stance. It is however worth noting that such wheels do take a toll on the ride quality of the car.
Upfront, we see LED headlights, front grille, off-road bumpers, and fog projector lamps
Having said this, this modified Mahindra Thar also gets a new after-market bumper that is not only stronger but also provides better approach angles. The new projector fog lamps now only look premium but have an extremely bright throw at the night. Likewise, the stock halogen headlamps too have been replaced by new LED headlights.
The same red finish is seen on the after-market seven-slot grille in the centre and on the ORVM. The hardtop and the rear-bumper remain stock but get the same custom red paint job. In all, while not many may like the overall colour combination, this modified 4X4 Jeep will definitely attract a lot of eyeballs on the roads.
The multi-spoke alloy wheels gel in well with the overall design of the SUV
Having said that, the Mahindra Thar is offered with two engine options – 2.2-L diesel and 2.0-L turbo petrol engine. While the 2-litre turbo-petrol motor churns out 150 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque, the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel motor on the other hand puts out 130PS of max power and 320 Nm of maximum torque output.
Both the engine options come mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In the Indian market, Mahindra Thar price starts from INR 13.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the SUV takes on the rivals like the Force Gurkha.
