And it only needs a 2 kWh battery.
A company called FUELL has just announced its new Flluid, the longest-range e-bike in the world. How far will it go? Well, the Flluid-2 comes with two removable batteries (two kWh total), enabling a 225-mile range on a single charge. That means this bicycle can go further with just two kWh than the 2023 Lexus RZ can go with its 71.4 kWh pack. Of course, the Lexus can carry five passengers and a lot more cargo over those 220 miles (196 miles with the larger wheels), but the Flluid-2 is still a pretty impressive piece of engineering.
FUELL will also offer the Flluid-3 with a single one kWh battery, which can go 110 miles. It's less impressive than the Flluid-2, but that's still further than the pitiful range set by the 2023 Mazda MX-30 EV, at least until the range extender version goes on sale.

“We used the knowledge gained from our initial foray into the electric bike market with Flluid-1 to develop a superior urban transportation solution, making sure that Flluid-2 and 3 are true and viable alternatives to cars,” says company CTO Erik Buell. As we pointed out, these latest bikes can truly be considered car alternatives (in some cases like in the city) based on their impressive range.
Both FUELL bikes use a new Valeo Cyclee Mid Drive Unit with fully automatic and predictive gear shifting. A smart algorithm adjusts the assistance, cranking frequency, and pace, meaning the ride is always smooth. Manual shifting is available if riders prefer. The motor produces 750 watts (approximately one horsepower) and almost 96 lb-ft of torque. Using full throttle, FUELL says its e-bikes can travel up to 20 mph, a perfectly adequate speed in an urban environment, but Flluid-2S and Flluid-3S versions will hit 28 mph.

Using the home charger, riders can hit an 80% battery in four hours or a 100% charge in six hours. The bikes are designed to fit riders spanning from five feet up to 6'4″. FUELL will sell the first 50 units for $3,699 (for the Flluid-2) and $3,999 (for the Flluid-3). These prices will then increase to $5,495. That's still around half the price of the Porsche brand e-bike. FUELL is currently crowdsourcing the project on Indigogo, where it has raised over $250,000 as of this writing.
We see this as a highly viable alternative to driving a car in a city, freeing up the roads and easing congestion. Hopefully, the company meets its fundraising goals.
