A 1992 Mazda Miata has popped up for sale on Cars & Bids with the most adorable 250 GTO-inspired body kit we've ever seen. The vehicle has a clean New Hampshire title and bidding currently sits at $9,200 with the auction ending March 7th. Is it worth more? Less?
If there's one thing we know about car auction websites is that they are not realistic barometers for the worth of cars. Still, it's fun to scroll through and see what crazy creations are currently up for sale. This right-hand drive sports car out of Japan may be the most interesting thing we've seen in a while though.
The car, which is actually called a Eunos Roadster in Japan, was imported into the country in 2022 and currently has about 47,000 miles.
It’s finished in red with a black and silver interior, and the list of modifications is rather extensive: a Monocraft body kit, Tein coilovers, a Nardi steering wheel, a Bride Low Max driver’s seat, a radio block-off plate, aftermarket window switches for the center console, and a footrest in the passenger footwell.
The body kit honestly kind of works, at least from the front. Once you get to the rear you can see where the design just sort of gives up, but overall it appears to be on to something. The proportions are obviously all out of whack in comparison to an actual GTO, but we can’t help feeling that a little more effort into the design would have really helped it shine.
The interior is also sort of a mixed bag with great touches like the Bride seat and Nardi wheel, but also some other surfaces and points that remind you you're sitting in a 1992 Frankensteined Miata creation.
As for the car's powertrain, it’s still using the stock 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is at least mated to a 5-speed manual. This means a blistering 118 horsepower and 101 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels and a 0-60 time of about 9 seconds. This car may have added a few extra pounds with this kit so just assume leisurely acceleration at best.
A few things to note are the passenger-side headlight does have a crack in it and there's faded finish on the wheel center caps. In the interior, the lower steering column cover is missing and there’s some torn upholstery on the rear of the headliner.
Some lucky person is going to bring this car home and, regardless of our opinions, we do hope it brings them all the joy in the world. For us though, there are a few other cars that have sold on Cars & Bids we’d rather have over this Miata like this E30 BMW M3 Touring replica or even a rare Polestar 1.
