Reservations are going up $6250 per six-figure supertruck.
GMC / FPI StudiosThe GMC Hummer EV is not cheap. Sure, more affordable models will launch in the 2024 model year, but right now, the only Hummers being delivered are Edition 1 models that start above $110,000. That number is set to go even higher in the very near future: A further $6250 price hike on new reservations will take that price above $115,000.
Automotive News reports that the price hike applies to all reservation levels. That means the range-topping Edition 1 soars even higher, but it also brings the previously-announced EV2 base model above $85,000. Those trucks are also not set to deliver until spring 2024, two and a half years after deliveries began for the Series 1 trucks in late 2021. All non-Series 1 Hummer prices are also without optional extras, including hallmark Hummer EV features like the Extreme Off-Road Package and the zero-to-60 acceleration mode absurdly named “Watts To Freedom.”
GMC says that the price hike is tied to rising costs of commodities, parts, technology and logistics. In other words, they are passing the wholesale increase of the cost of making luxury electro-trucks directly onto the sticker price. Reservations made before June 18, including those for the trucks that will not be produced for a couple of years, will not be affected by the price hike. There are more than 77,000 of those, so expect a lot more 9000-pound Hummer EVs to hit the road very soon.
