While the end sounded bad, it’s easy to disassociate and ignore. Well, a week after announcing that the current Charger and Challenger are seeing the end of the road, the company unveils the first of its seven Last Call models. Dubbed the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, this is an homage to the 2016 show car of the same name. As you’d imagine, the Challenger Shakedown is a fairly accurate representation of the 1971 Challenger-based show car.
The most obvious homage to the similarly named show car is the stripe package. The black and red asymmetrical stripe weaves around the Challenger’s shaker hood, which draws further attention to one of Dodge’s legendary features.
This Last Call model is based on the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack and its widebody variant, which means it packs a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 under the hood. That Hemi breathes through a Mopar Shaker intake. Six-piston Brembo calipers are at the front to slow you down when the time comes. The Shakedown also sees a host of special badging, like a Shaker decal under hood and a unique grille badge.
Dodge hasn’t announced this 2023 Challenger’s price yet, but a current Challenger Scat Pack with similar graphics will set you back $50,835. The company has said it will build 500 Challenger Shakedowns out of standard-body Challenger R/T Scat Packs, wearing destroyer grey. There will be 500 widebody variants sporting a pitch black finish. That means there will only be 1,000 of this Last Call Challenger heading to the roads.
Dodge says orders will open up in the fall, and you can track allocations on its Dodge Garage website.
