The Grey Nomads are a unique bunch, not only from their personalities, their perspective on life, family and romantic interests, but the caravans and vehicles they use on their round Australia adventures.
In Grey Nomads season 2, this could not have been more evident, not only are the caravans and motorhomes a reflection of the characters and their personalities, from Bev and Don’s high-tech motorhome to Ella and Ernie’s more compact and simpler pop-up camper. If you’re inspired to live your own Grey Nomads life or just love the rides from the series, well, you’ve come to the right place.
Here are the caravans, cars and motorhomes which starred in Grey Nomads Season 2.
Don and Bev’s Paradise Liberation Motorhome
Don and Bev chose to go big when they decided to live the Grey Nomads life and venture around the country. They opted for a huge 28ft RV with everything for $550K. Their motorhome is a luxury home on wheels and has all the bells and whistles and creature comforts they are accustomed to.
This is their first lap around Australia which Bev says they needed for their relationship, as they had just been cohabitating for the last several years since their son Steven moved out and Don spent more time and effort on the cat than her. Don is always working on the RV, continually making adjustments, placing protective coatings, rust proofing, WD’40ing and keeping everything covered.
Ernie and Ella’s Jayco Expanda Caravan and Toyota LandCruiser Prado
Ernie and Ella sold their long-term rental home and with their savings bought a new Jayco Expanda. They are into the swing of being Grey Nomads and are on their third lap around Australia. The Expanda, as the name suggests has the ability to grow in size so you do not have to tow a larger caravan that you might not be confident enough to manoeuvre yourself.
As well as towing their pop-up caravan which has all the essentials they need to get by, their towing vehicle of choice, a Toyota LandCruiser Prado has the pulling power and the room for bicycles and a double kayak as they like being active, and being on the move.
Ingrid’s Euro Caravans Glider and 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300D
If there was ever a car that told a lot about a person’s personality and style, it would definitely be the 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300D Ingrid owns to tow her Euro Caravans Glider. Its iconic, smart and sophisticated style with a pop of colour is a true expression of the not so grey, Grey Nomad as she is certainly not one for roughing it out on the road.
