There was a time where Lancia was at the forefront of innovation and trumped the motorsport scene however the Italian brand has fallen into disrepute somewhat, with only one model currently on offer in only their home market. Under the new guidance of Stellantis and their CEO; Carlos Tavares, a brighter future is looking probable for the 115 year old automaker.
In 2024, as part of the 10 year strategic plan, a new Ypsilon will be launched with a fully electrified range. It will continue to be the smallest vehicle in Lancia’s lineup measuring in at approximately 4 metres long and competing in Europe’s B-segment. Thereafter a new flagship crossover believed to be called the Auerlia, a historic nameplate for the brand, will join the portfolio in 2026 and compete against models like the Opel Insignia and Citroen C5 X with its 4,6 metre long stature.
The most revered of models to be returned to the Lancia lineup in 2028 is none other than that of the Delta, although instead of a Group A WRC challenger capable of spitting anti-lag flames, this one will likely be all-electric only. The newcomer will be a “sculpted and muscular car with geometric lines,” likely a retro ode to its highly successful predecessor.
The powertrain choice has been aligned with Lancia’s goal of producing zero-emissions products by 2026 in an effort to, once again, become a European powerhouse. New brand managers for France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg, and The Netherlands have been appointed and want around 100 dealers around 60 large European cities during their 10 year strategic plan.
