Tesla’s first major recall since May is one that likewise affects its entire lineup and involves its power windows. More than a million vehicles are involved.
Included in the latest recall are model-year 2017-22 Model 3 sedans, model-year 2020-21 Model Y SUVs, and model 2021-22 Model S sedans and Model X SUVs. The window automatic reversal system — normal people call it the power windows — may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction, exerting excessive force and pinching an occupant before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.
Tesla will perform an over-the-air software update for free to fix this issue. The automaker will begin notifying owners Nov. 15, but in the meantime, those with questions can call Tesla at 877-798-3752, or visit NHTSA’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
