Tesla has decided to offer US customers a $US3,750 price reduction for Model 3 and Model Y EVs sold in the month of December.
The initiative is in line with reports of lower demand for new EVs in the US as many customers wait for the changes for a more substantial tax credit as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

This will offer customers a $7,500 tax credit for EVs built with battery materials sourced from the US .
The price reductions are illustrated in the inventory that is currently sitting on Tesla’s website. An example of this is the number of Model 3 listings around a postcode in New York. All are ready for immediate delivery.

On the header of the page as well, Tesla states:
“Take delivery of a new Model 3 or Model Y in December 2022 for a $3,750 credit”
Recent reports show that demand has decreased in markets like China, UK, the US and even ours here in Australia.

The stock of Tesla EVs has recently appeared in Tesla’s inventory in Australia with states like South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
This is a sign of the times with many Tesla Model 3 customers waiting over 9 months to get their EV delivered.
With inventory building up in Australia too as more ships deliver Tesla EVs to close the year off, it’s a good time for customers to get behind the wheel of an EV right away rather than waiting up to 18 months for other manufacturers to deliver one in Australia.
Tesla supply seems to be increasing in Australia and not everyone might be ready to make the switch with the current elevated Tesla prices. A “price adjustment” might be what’s needed to kick demand into gear again.
