Indian carmaker Tata Motors has announced that it is hiking prices of its entire range of passenger vehicles by an average of 1.1 per cent. The new prices come into effect today, April 23, 2022.
Tata has joined other carmakers in hiking the prices of its passenger vehicle lineup after the end of the previous fiscal year. Rivals like Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki have already announced and implemented the hikes for their car ranges.
With the new hike in prices, the Tata Motors lineup now starts at Rs 5,22,900 for the base XE variant of the Tiago hatchback and goes all the way up to Rs 23,32,900 for the Safari XZA+ Gold (6-seater).
Tata Motors has stated that the price hike is to offset the rise in input costs. Here is a look at the updated prices for the Tata passenger vehicle lineup.

Last month, Tata Motors announced a price hike across its commercial vehicle range for India by 2 to 2.5 per cent.
At that time, the Mumbai-based carmaker had stated that an increase in the price of commodities like steel, aluminium and other useful metals along with a hike in the costs of other raw materials was the reason for the increase in the price of its commercial vehicle range. The hike in the prices of Tata’s commercial vehicles came into effect on the 1st of April.
This is also the second time this year that Tata Motors has increased the prices of its passenger vehicle range in India. In January of this year, the carmaker announced an increase in prices for its passenger vehicle range. Like the newest hike, the increase in January was a marginal one.
Meanwhile, the carmaker is moving ahead with its electric vehicle push. The Tata Nexon is currently the best selling electric car in India. Earlier this month, the carmaker had revealed the Curvv electric SUV coupe concept. The Tata Curvv previews a new production EV that will go into production in the next two years.
Tata Motors is also planning to introduce a brand new EV on the 29th of this month. The carmaker hasn’t confirmed any details about the new electric vehicle in its lineup but it could be the Nexon EV with a bigger battery pack or even the long rumoured EV version of the Altroz premium hatchback.
Thoughts On the Tata Motors Price Hike
The price hike from Tata Motors is an expected one considering that rivals have been ramping up prices as well across the course of this month. However, all eyes will turn to Tata once again on the 29th of the month when it reveals the latest entry in its EV lineup and that is something we can’t wait for.
