After giving the
Ertiga a minor styling refresh and a revised powertrain for 2022
, Suzuki has now done the same with its SUV-derivative, the XL7.
Shown in India, where it’s known as the
XL6 (it has second row captain seats)
, the 2022 XL7 gets minor aesthetic tweaks such as the new grille, smoked taillights with LED light guide, tailgate garnish, and revised two-tone alloy wheels.
But while the design changes aren’t that drastic outside, inside the XL7 adds new creature comfort features. It gets ventilated front seats, a revised instrument cluster with a built-in eco indicator, a 360-degree camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system among others.
Moreover, mechanically, the XL7 also benefits from the same improvements found in the Ertiga. With that, the K-Series (K15C) now gets Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid system. The mild-hybrid system bumps up the power and torque figures to 103 horsepower (from 100 horsepower) and 136 Nm of torque (from 130 Nm). It also has idle start-stop functionality built in as well. This is then mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters and cruise control.
In terms of safety, the XL7 gets four SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control with hill hold assist as standard.
Since India is the refreshed XL7 launch market, it would probably take some time for these updates to appear in the ASEAN region. Given the competitiveness of the small 7-seater SUV segment over here, adding a few, or all of these features could add some spice into the mix.
