Following the opening of Superchargers to third parties in Europe, Tesla is now starting to open its fast-charging stations for electric cars of other brands in Australia. Five Supercharger locations have initially been made available in the state of New South Wales.
More of the approximately 50 Supercharger locations in Australia are to open to other brands at a later date. In Europe, selected Tesla Superchargers are also accessible to other brands in a total of 15 countries.
The programme was launched in November 2021 in the Netherlands, followed by Norway, France, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Sweden and the UK in the first extension, and Germany, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg and Switzerland in the second round. In the meantime, Iceland is now also included in Tesla’s listing. In November last year, Tesla started to open Supercharger stations in Italy for electric cars of other brands. The Supercharger map in Italy now also includes the note, “This Supercharger is open to Tesla vehicles and Non-Tesla vehicles with CCS compatibility.”

In Australia, all five locations recently made available to third parties can only deliver up to 120kW, instead of the 250kW of Tesla’s latest ‘V3’ Superchargers. The Superchargers that have just been made available cost 79 cents per kilowatt-hour, while Tesla owners only pay between 58 and 70 cents. Those non-Tesla drivers willing to pay a $9.99/month subscription only have to pay 66 cents.
