Alfa Romeo fans lay down deposits for new 6C supercar, despite no official details or program sign-off
The 2024 Alfa Romeo 6C has almost ‘sold out’ ahead of its expected unveiling in the third quarter of this year, despite prospective buyers knowing almost nothing about the upcoming Italian supercar.
According to company CEO Jean-Phillipe Imparato, a large number of deposits have already been taken, even though the car has not yet been officially green-lit by parent Stellantis.
The fate of the 6C (a moniker that’s also still to be confirmed) now hangs in the balance until Stellantis executives decide whether to sign off on the supercar. That’s due to occur in April.
However, Imparato also let slip to Autocar that the entire run of the unconfirmed supercar is almost entirely spoken for, even before a single image has surfaced.
“We are working on something that I could put beside the 8C in the museum of Arese, being proud of our contribution to the history of Alfa Romeo,” Imparato said.
“That is what we want.”
Instead of a clean-sheet design, Imparato said the supercar’s shape will “contribute to the DNA” of the brand, adding weight to rumours of it being heavily inspired by the sublime 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale from the brand’s enviable back catalogue.

Imparato also hinted that the reborn 6C will also feature a combustion engine, so it’s likely to bid farewell to Alfa’s twin-turbo V6.
Although no official details have been released, the 6C supercar is set to be based on a carbon-fibre monocoque tub and feature a mid-mounted combustion engine, just like the smaller Alfa Romeo 4C.
Packing a development of the Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, which in the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA produces 397kW and 600Nm, outputs should be wound up for the 6C.

Channelling the power to the rear wheels is expected to be the same Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that’s used in both the Maserati MC20 and the Chevrolet Corvette C8.
When it lands, the Alfa 6C will be the long-awaited replacement for the 8C Competizione supercar – the run of svelte coupes and Spider drop-tops sold from 2007 to 2010.
Back in 2018, the 8C was set to be replaced with a 450kW-plus hybrid-powered coupe.
However, plans for the Alfa flagship were dropped following the brand’s takeover by new parent Stellantis.
