In 2022, SsangYong will introduce the electric Korando e-Motion to dealers. The tiny SUV is Hyundai’s first electric vehicle. The starting price is 38,990 euros.
SsangYong, a South Korean manufacturer, will introduce its first BEV to dealers in early 2022, although with some delay. The Korando e-Motion will initially be released in Europe before being released in the United States.
The SUV, previously known as the E100, is not a fully new vehicle, but it is immediately identifiable as a derivation of a well-known series by its name: Korando e-Motion is the name of the product. The e-SIV research provided the first forerunners in 2018. It has a closed radiator grille and blue ornamental stripes in the headlights, which distinguishes it from the Korando brothers with gasoline and diesel engines.
Electric motor of 140 kW
The Korando e-electric Motion’s powertrain has a maximum output of 140 kW. (190 PS). The battery has a storage capacity of 61.5 kWh, which should be enough for a range of up to 339 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
SsangYong hasn’t revealed the charging capacity, but the time span for a charge from 20 to 80 percent SOC should be enough: 33 minutes of parking on the CCS fast charger. This equates to a charging power of roughly 67 kW on average.
Prices begin at 38,990 euros.
Bronze, Platinum, and Titanium are the three equipment lines available to customers.
Automatic air conditioning, the keyless smart key access system, a light and rain sensor, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the multifunction steering wheel, and a smart audio system with an eight-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, six speakers, and a rear view camera are all included in the entry-level version, which starts at 38,990 euros. Safety is ensured by features such as an automated emergency braking system, lane keeping and traffic flow assistance, traffic sign recognition, attention warning, and adaptive cruise control.
Three equipment options are available for the SsangYong Korando e-Motion.
The center screen expands to nine inches in the mid-range Platinum equipment line (from 41,990 euros) and also functions as a navigation system display. There are also front and rear parking assists, seat and steering wheel heaters, and an inductive smartphone charging dock.
The Titanium trim level (starting at 45,590 euros) has comprehensive equipment, including front seats with leather upholstery and seat ventilation, LED headlights, ambient lighting, and various assistance systems including blind spot, lane change, and exit aides, as well as a cross traffic warning. The Korando combustion versions are offered in a variety of equipment lines, with a 163 hp 1.5-liter petrol engine starting at 23,990 euros and a diesel engine with 136 horsepower starting at 26,990 euros.
SsangYong, a Korean SUV expert, will enter the electric era in 2022. With a 61.5 kWh battery, the Korando e-Motion is the first in Europe.
