Smart only just released official images and details of its new Smart #1 SUV, however, the people of China are already abuzz about another Smart vehicle. Codenamed HC11, the electric vehicle (EV) was spotted, complete with Brabus branding, testing in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.
Chinese media are speculating that the HC11 will be named the #2, following the company’s new trend as it makes its return as an EV manufacturer.
The first thing that we can tell from the spy shots is that Smart’s next vehicle will not be an SUV but a four-door coupe instead. Other than that, the HC11 will most likely feature a similar front-end as the #1 as well as the pop-out door handles.
Since the HC11 will also be built on Geely’s new SEA platform, the power output will likely mirror the Smart #1. Expect the HC11 to also feature a rear mounted motor that does 272 PS and 343 Nm.
It has a 66 kWh battery pack that is good for a 440 km range based on the WLTP cycle.
Smart #1
Interestingly, the spyshot also gave us a look at the interior and the seats feature a Brabus logo stitched into the headrest. This might hint that Smart might introduce a faster more luxurious version of the HC11.
While it is more or less confirmed that the Smart #1 is bound for Malaysia, we speculate that the HC11 will also possibly be launched in Malaysia when the time is right. Stay tuned for more updates.
