Even when there isn’t much to say, a picture is worth a thousand words. And if these spy shots of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS are worth as much as the vehicle itself, well, that’s a couple hundred thousand words.
Seen here in the Mercedes’ most luxurious trim, the Maybach GLS was caught testing near the Arctic Circle. We haven’t heard much information about the mid-cycle refresh, but we can see straight away that the taillights will get new graphics.
Insiders claim different versions for Europe and the U.S., while the refresh will also give the GLS the S-Class’ steering wheel, as well as the latest infotainment and connectivity technology.

Last year, Driving’s Elliot Alder drove the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. For a cool $230,000, the GLS was equipped with a 550 horsepower twin-turbo V8 and included a 48-volt mild hybrid system that might save some fuel, though Maybach owners probably aren’t too worried about that. It was previously reported that Mercedes was planning a V12-powered Maybach, with pictures of the sedan proudly wearing a V12 badge on its front fender. It seems like just about anything’s possible.
“We remain passionate about driving the brand forward to set the highest standards in style, comfort and outstanding craftsmanship,” said Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes Benz AG, in April 2021. “Maybach customers are looking for something special and our aspiration is to surpass those expectations.”
An official debut is expected later in the year, when the Mercedes-Benz GLS is also expected to receive a mid-cycle facelift.
