The restomod made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Theon Design is back with another 964 Porsche 911 commission. The UK-based engineering company has debuted the ITA001 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, built for an Italian customer and collector.
The festival in West Sussex is the place to be as Porsche is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its sports car. The carbon fiber-bodied ITA001 restomod is joined by other 911s, including the 935-inspired 911 created by another Porsche specialist Singer, which ran the 1.16-mile hill climb track with its 700-horsepower twin-turbo engine.
“We're delighted to be showing our latest commission, ITA001, to the world at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – for many the world's leading automotive event,” said Theon Design Co-Founder Adam Hawley.
“ITA001 retains the air-cooled 911's enthralling charm, but blends it with modern, focused performance, and dynamic ability; we've created a classic 911 with an addictive dose of modern GT3 thrown in.”
With the heavy use of carbon fiber, the 964-based Porsche 911 ITA001 only weighs 2,540 lbs. It comes with 993 RS brakes and a semi-active suspension from Dutch company TracTive. The latter is a five-stage selectable semi-active suspension system that provides infinitely customizable damping settings. As part of the 964 generation, the restomod is built to “deliver the ultimate air-cooled Porsche 911 driving experience.”
While Theon Design has successfully fitted a supercharger into a 964-based 911, the latest ITA001 commission goes for a naturally-aspirated setup with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, making 400 horsepower.
“With ITA001, we’ve applied Theon Design’s signature blend of cutting-edge automotive technology, OEM grade design, and manufacturing techniques, along with British hand-crafted quality – all fused together by a team obsessed with achieving air-cooled Porsche perfection,” added Hawley.
Theon Design’s ITA001 is on display at the Goodwood FOS on stand 68/69 until July 16. Interested individuals who want a commission from the company are looking at a starting price of 380,000 pounds ($497,458).
