For those that want the opulence of a Conti but aren’t necessarily interested in the brute capability of the flagship W12 have the 8 cylinder option to spend copious amounts of money on. The latest, spicier V8 Bentley Continental has now been tweaked to offer the GT S and GTC S models in the British automakers portfolio.
That being said, the 4,0-litre twin turbocharged V8 still offers its revered performance, with the 404 kW and 770 N.m catapulting the luxury land yacht to 100 km/h in 4 seconds flat with an amplified exhaust note compliments of a sports exhaust but that is’t the focus of the spicier V8 Bentley Continental. Instead, the “S” derivatives of the model focus on visual modifications that accentuate its sportiness and include a darkened tint for the headlights and taillights.
In fact, most of the exterior detail trim has been converted into gloss black with the famed Bentley badge remaining as shiny as it was before. The sportier “S” offering now boasts badges of the same letter on the front fender while 22-inch Y-shaped wheels are a new offering in the range. If the glossy black aesthetic of the rims is a little bit too much, buyers can opt to have theirs finished in Pale Brodgar Satin as an option. Alternatively to the new wheels, the smaller 21-inch tri-spoke wheels can also be specified with all models receiving brake callipers painted in red.
The interior has also received some subtle changes too with the “Bentley Motors Ltd” plaque on the treadplates being replaced by an “S.” This symbol can also be found on the headrests for the seats in the front and rear with the black leather contrasted by red accents throughout the cabin.
While we can expect a plug-in hybrid derivate model to enter the Crewe manufacturers portfolio soon based on spy shots, the spicier V8 Bentley Continental models should slot in between the “base” model and the W12-powered flagship.
