Just three Zonda HP Barchettas were ever built. One of them now has some pretty extensive damage.
Supercar.Fails / InstagramAny Pagani Zonda is a rare thing. The Zonda HP Barchetta, a one-of-three project completed four years after the Zonda’s original production run, is much rarer still. The cars were rumored to cost $15 million when new, but only two actually reached the public; the third was for Horacio Pagani himself. It is the final and ultimate Zonda, making it all the more alarming that one Zonda HP Barchetta owner crashed his in Zagreb, Croatia earlier this week.
Video from the crash shows the car’s rear snapping out at low speed, then darting across a narrow road into oncoming traffic. The car hits a Fiesta in the other lane before coming to a halt with some substantial damage.
As photos from the scene shared on Instagram show, most of the damage is to the car’s left-rear corner. The entire left-rear suspension is ripped out, leaving a complete wheel and brake assembly on the side of the road. Rear bodywork and the left-front fender also appear substantially damaged.
Finding new parts may prove to be a unique challenge. Outside of limited-run cars like this, the Zonda has been out of production for nine years.
