In the words of the R&B classic by Nelly, "Let me see your grill (Let me see my what?) Ya, ya grill (Uh), ya, ya, ya grill."
Not only are these grilles monster-sized, but they are also blingy to the max. These days, a car with a big grille grin is just as much a status symbol as having blingy teeth grills back in the 2000s. So let’s take a look at whose car designers are going all out.
Hyundai Palisade
Hyundai’s large family SUV is large in all facets, especially when it comes to its front grille treatment. The 2023 Palisade hit the market with a bold new look through a series of design elements headlined by what Hyundai calls a parametric shield grille design covered top to toe in chrome.
Lexus LX
For over 10 years, Lexus has been waving the flag of big, bold grille design. Named the spindle grille, it has been the unmistakable Lexus feature since it was first revealed on the LF-Gh concept in 2011. Since then, it has been constantly adapted to suit the character of each successive Lexus model, with different mesh patterns, dimensions, and finishes.
Audi S8
The Audi A8 wears its single-frame radiator grille with pride. Framed by a chrome edge, the grille shows off the latest in Audi’s design style with sculptured, three-dimensional, and chrome heavy in detail. Since the 2000s, Audi has grown its front grilles to become big statement pieces and a design staple of the German luxury marque.
BMW 7 Series
Always up for trying something new and polarising in the design space, BMW has recently launched its latest 7 Series large sedan with an even larger front grille. Taking its iconic kidney grilles to the max, the latest 7 series and EV i7 see the kidneys so large that it is hard to miss. Although on the EV version, the grille serves little purpose, some variants have lighting that add even more depth and focus on the front end of the car.
Peugeot 308
The latest small car from Peugeot sees a new grille, new logo, and new design come together. Peugeot has in the last decade or so experimented with big grilles and extravagant front-end design, and the 2023 308 is no exception. More subtle than previous generations, it still stands out from the crowd.

Toyota Alphard
This popular Japanese grey import people mover from Toyota is not only a hybrid but a big front grille-wearing star. The Alphard has been around for 20 years and is very much the luxurious Tarago becoming a popular choice for families who want a unique van. From the side and the rear, it looks like any other van, but make your way to the front, and, BANG, you’re hit with a massive chrome-plated front grille that goes from the high bonnet to the bottom splitter.
