Sime Darby has secured a tender to deliver 100 electric vehicles (EV) to Singapore’s leading taxi operator ComfortDelGro. The deal is estimated to be worth SGD 12 million (~RM 37 million).
The model in question is the all-new BYD E6 MPV. The car is equipped with a blade battery and has a cruising range of up to 522 km on a single charge.
Other than that, the E6 is also easy to charge as BYD claims the car is equipped with a high-efficiency on-board charger. That means that the E6 takes about 40 minutes to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent.
The 100 E6 taxis will be delivered by E-Auto, Sime Darby’s local dealer for the Chinese brand by the second half of 2022.
BYD has been providing eco-friendly vehicles for Singapore’s public transportation system since 2014. The company also offers new energy tourist buses and public buses.
