For the longest time, Audi has shoved powerful 5-cylinder turbocharged engines in their compact sedans. With this in mind, surely there are a few examples floating around in the used car market. We’ll be taking a look see at what’s available.
About the Audi RS3 Sedan.
The 5-cylinder 2.5 TFSI engine in the latest generation RS3 unleashes a hefty 294 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque sent to all 4 wheels via Audi’s quattro 4-wheel drive system with dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The cabin is like a jet fighter cockpit and has some luxury comfort to really make you feel like a top gun. The exterior front fascia has massive air dams with an imposing stance on the vehicle. South Africans you’ll love this too, it comes in Kyalami Green! We have a price and colour guide you can peruse through here.
Is the Audi RS3 Sedan a good car?
Upon doing some research, the previous and current generation Audi RS3 seems to be fairly reliable vehicles provided they have been maintained appropriately IE following the maintenance procedures and on-time servicing. If any faults have come up, they appear to be electrical in the form of a fault with the infotainment, the engine cutting power in some instances, the fuel pump being faulty, suspension top mount issues and finally MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) issues. These should be taken with a pinch of salt as the number of issues reported overseas have not been in mass numbers and can be isolated incidents.
Should you buy a used Audi RS3 Sedan?
It’s worth noting that the current Audi RS3 sedan is a relatively new car on the market. As such, the car needs to be given a longevity test to see if any faults come up. That shouldn’t deter you from going after a used one though, since the car is still quite new, you can source a demo vehicle at a slightly cheaper price with some features specced in. Alternatively, you can go after a previous generation RS3 to save some money and if you’re not too fused. This is a performance car though, so the likelihood of the vehicle being driven hard is common but as long as the vehicle has been cared for, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
