As we get ramped up for the start of the new season March 20, Pérez and Patrón chase perfection.
In a new promotional video, Mexican F1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez joins forces with Patrón Tequila as he looks forward to being “the first Mexican driver to reach the final podium.” The clip premiered today on Patrón’s YouTube channel and was shared on Pérez’s Instagram page and other social media.
The 2022 Formula 1 season begins in Bahrain on March 20. In the new clip, Pérez talks about the “drive for perfection” that he shares with the popular Mexican tequila brand, as a tracking POV shot runs through cobblestone streets and beautiful landscapes of his homeland and a revving F1 car provides the soundtrack.
Pérez had an up-and-down first season with Red Bull in 2021, but he’s excited to have a full preseason to prepare for 2022.
“[It] feels like we were in Abu Dhabi yesterday, but I’m so excited to start the new season,” he said at the launch of the team’s new car, the RB18. The two-time F1 race winner said he believes the new technical regulations will make for more exciting racing for both drivers and fans.
The Patrón clip opens with Pérez in soft focus, sitting at a table in a fine hacienda with a frosty Paloma at hand, pondering how in the heck he’s going to catch Max Verstappen. (Not really, but we can kind of see the wheels turning.) His voiceover is interspersed with a POV shot of the narrator cruising through fields of blue agave.
We would have preferred to see Pérez in his RB18 ripping through the open fields, but, hey, who wants to tear up all that fine agave and put all that delicious tequila at risk? Just thinking about it makes us want to whip up a cold Paloma, put on some Pérez official F1 gear, and settle in for the season.
