all sprints & midgets, autos, cars, plymouth, road america, plymouth dirt track partner for ira outlaw sprint race

ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. – A special Thursday night winged sprint car doubleheader returns on June 30 as the Road America Challenge presented by Kunes RV at the Plymouth Dirt Track featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series kicks off the NASCAR Cup weekend June 30-July 3.

The regional Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series will feature some of the best sprint car teams in the Midwest and along with NASCAR Cup series stars. Chase Briscoe, the Stewart / Haas #14 NASCAR Cup Series Ford driver, has again added his name to the entry list, and more drivers are expected to round out the list as the event draws closer. Briscoe picked up his first Cup Series win in 2022 at Phoenix Raceway, making history as the 200th Cup Series winner.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is widely known as one of the most respected regional series in the country, and last year’s winner, 10-time IRA Champ Bill Balog, has also added his name to the roster to defend his title.

In addition to Balog, IRA champions Jake Blackhurst, Scotty Neitzel, and Jeremy Schultz will also be aiming to add hardware from this prestigious event to their trophy case. In recent years NASCAR Cup stars Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, and Kyle Larson have all revisited their sprint car roots and raced to IRA Sprint Car Victory Lane, with Stewart and Larson both notching wins at Plymouth.

An entire field of 900 horsepower Bumper to Bumper IRA winged outlaws is also expected. Plus, a significant entry list of PDTR/MSA 360 winged sprints will make up an incredible sprint car doubleheader evening.

“Kunes RV is a great fit for this event,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s President and General Manager. “We’re extremely proud to have them on board for the Road America Challenge and at Road America as a camping partner. The on-track intensity is going to ramp up even more for this year’s race as NASCAR’s Next-Gen cars will battle on America’s favorite road course for the first time.”

Located just five miles from Road America at Sheboygan County Fair Park, the 1/3-mile Plymouth Dirt Track will have shuttles to transport fans to-and-from Road America.

Ticket prices for adults are only $25, and kids 7-11 years of age get in for $11. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets in advance as there is an increase to $30 at the gate. The pit gates open at 2 p.m., and the spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying begins at 6:30 p.m., and racing begins at 7 p.m. Advance ticket buyers will be able to pick up their tickets at WILL CALL on race day and the gate will open to advance ticket buyers prior to race day ticket buyers, so not only will advance tickets buyers have a seat but the opportunity to pick their seat.

“Road America is a premiere facility and we are excited to develop a mutually beneficial partnership to help kick-off the NASCAR weekend,” said Kunes RV Regional Marketing Manager, Melody Thompson. “We look forward to working together to make the Road America Challenge a memorable experience for everyone.”
