- Ford appears to be readying a refreshed F-150 for 2024
- Changes to the front and rear lights are expected
- Rumours are power outputs may also be revised
Detroit’s truck-makers don’t stand still for long, beating each other over the head with frequent styling updates and power upgrades. Whilst the current Ford F-150 debuted relatively recently in 2021, it is expected to receive some notable tweaks for the 2024 model year. Our spies have caught up with a test mule on the streets of Michigan.
With body-hugging camouflage on the front and rear areas of this truck, one can be assured the Blue Oval will be focusing its efforts on those spaces during this refresh. Expect to see new head- and taillight designs when the 2024 F-150 appears, plus a smattering of available grille designs which will surely change depending on trim level. Peering through the camouflage, it does seem as if the forward-facing peepers will have a new light signature, with perhaps some sort of stacked appearance – à la new Super Duty – to the headlamps.

The test truck shown in these pictures is a SuperCab configuration, paired with a 6.5-foot box. Unlike most of its competitors in this segment, Ford does not offer exterior door handles for the rear ‘half-doors’ on this cab type, preferring to have the things swing out in clamshell style. This will likely carry over for the foreseeable future, since those components are terrifyingly expensive to redesign. Same goes for the general shape of its windshield, fenders, and rear window — don’t expect many changes in these areas for 2024.
Peep the continued presence of a whip antenna up front, plus parking sensors and towing gear around back. Not visible but certainly plausible is some sort of multi-function tailgate; at present, Ford is the only Detroit truck-maker to not offer an origami ‘gate, with the GM twins packing a double-folding MultiPro unit; and Ram going dutch with its barn-door application.
There does not appear to be any changes to visible components of the F-150’s suspension or drivetrain. This mule has a ‘4×4’ sticker – or part of one, anyway – in the typical Ford colours and font, though the truck is clearly unladen thanks to the enormous open space above its rear wheels. The wheels are still six-lug units as well.
Of course, Ford is likely to revise power outputs of its engine roster for 2024 in an effort to stay ahead of its peers. At present, the truck’s most powerful non-Raptor mill is the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid powertrain, good for an impressive 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque.
The refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 will likely appear in mid-2023, potentially debuting at the Chicago Auto Show next February.
