Charles Rolls and Henry Royce would likely not have approved.
Tuning shop Renntech made its name building fast Mercedes-Benzes. But over the years the company has expanded to other brands and badges. Now the company has gone all the way to the top. Adding power and lowering the suspension of the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Dawn.
Renntech is far from new on the block, starting in 1989. The company was founded by Hartmut Feyhl, who was a big part of AMG before it was brought in-house at Mercedes. One of the company’s highlights is the 320 km/h E7.4RS that packed a massive V12 into an E320 making it the fastest sedan in the world in 1996.
So setting your sights on Rolls-Royce might not be that far of a stretch when your builds are already topping $300,000.
Rolls was long-known for power figures that just said “sufficient.” Though arguably it really wasn’t in a few of those years. What’s “sufficient” today? Not the factory twin-turbo V12. It only makes 623 hp and 642 lb-ft of torque. That’s hardly enough, is it?
Renntech thought its customers would say no. So there’s a new powertrain computer that turns it up. Way up. 95 more hp and 90 lb-ft of torque, making those figures 715 and 732 respectively. Now that is sufficient.
Of course, since these are Rollers, there’s no loud exhaust fitted to ruin the car’s silence. Renntech calls it “like taking off in a jet where the thrust just keeps on pushing, but without the high-pitch turbine whirl.”
The company is fitting some suspension modifications to the Wraith and Dawn as well. Looking to give it a more menacing stance without spoiling the ride. Thanks to the factory air suspension, all that takes is another module.
The Renntech suspension lowering module plugs into the car and lets the owner adjust the ride height using their phone or PC. In 1mm increments, giving you Rolls-Royce precision for picking exactly the ride height you want. You can set it slammed all the way down, or up in the sky.
A fully slammed and stanced Rolls might not be for everyone, but Renntech says that it doesn’t ruin the ride, at least. That’s because it can be set to rise back up to a normal height at a set speed, letting that smooth Rolls suspension do its job properly. Charles Rolls and Henry Royce would likely not have approved, but we’re guessing that current buyers will eat it up.
