French car-maker confirms second price hike for Aussie line-up this year
Renault has become the latest car-maker to announce fresh price increases for its entire Australian line-up, with up to $2210 added to the bottom line.
Coming into effect on July 1, the price rises vary according to the model, but the biggest hike belongs to the 2022 Renault Megane RS Trophy, which now starts from $62,300 plus on-road costs for the manual version.
The automatic starts $3000 further upstream at $65,300 plus ORCs.
That’s on top of a $6100 increase applied to the Renault Megane RS Trophy in March, making the hot hatch $8310 more expensive in the space of just four months.
See our full pricing list below, but the next-biggest jumps can be found within the MY22 Renault Koleos portfolio, with some variants rising by up to $1410 – enough to push the opening price to $35,000 plus ORCs.
Next up are the Renault Captur and Renault Arkana line-ups, which have both been slapped with a blanket $1210 price hike for the start of the new financial year.
Just behind the compact SUVs is the load-lugging Renault Master portfolio, all versions of which will rise by between $1000 and $1200.
Despite its Mitsubishi Express brethren being shown the door, the Renault Trafic will soldier on for a while longer, albeit $1000 more expensive than before.
That then leaves the Renault Kangoo compact van range, which will kick off the second half of 2022 with a modest $100 price increase for all variants.
Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey said the portfolio-wide price jumps were the result of rising shipping costs and increases in the price of raw materials used in the production of the vehicles.
“While these price increases are an unfortunate consequence of the ever-changing global world we live in, the Renault range still represents a premium European offering combined with genuine value thanks to its high levels of safety, technology and cutting-edge design,” he said.
This is the second price increase Renault has applied to its Aussie line-up this year, having cited similar reasons for a range-wide hike that came into effect on March 1.
