The latest collaboration between Porsche and contemporary designer Daniel Arsham has resulted in a reimagined version of the 1978 Porsche 928, aptly named NEBULA 928. This retro-futuristic concept car takes inspiration from the Y2K aesthetic, offering a playful and fluid iteration of the original luxury grand tourer.

Arsham, known for his imaginative and boundary-breaking abstract designs, has previously worked with Lewis Hamilton to create a helmet for the Monaco GP and the 356 Bonsai art car inspired by the Japanese aesthetic concept Wabi Sabi.
This time, he has partnered with digital ideation expert Khyzyl Saleem to create an off-beat car that brings nostalgia for the growling V8 engine to the forefront.

The NEBULA 928 features a complete redesign of the rear wing, bumpers and lights, drawing inspiration from organic meta-ball shapes.
The rear bumper boasts the NEBULA typeface, while the triple intakes with a central one surrounded by two smaller ones provide a sense of depth to the design. Arsham’s studio logo is present throughout the exterior and interior in the form of custom print.

The vintage Porsche model has been given a futuristic identity, with the edges of the original car softened to include features that define more modern models. The metallic exterior paint in Y2K purple, a stark contrast to the complementary shade seen on the interior, pays homage to the early 2000s. The steering wheel is constructed with aluminium, while the shift knob features custom ByBorre wove fabric and purple Ultrasuede and leather. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned with the help of Saleem.
