Mazda Australia has recalled more than 90,000 vehicles this month, including popular nameplates such as the Mazda3 small car and Mazda CX-5 mid-size SUV.
Tallying up to 90,363 vehicles, Mazda Australia says a fuel pump component in the following vehicles is the culprit: Mazda2 (DJ/DL), Mazda3 (BN), CX-5 (KF), CX-9 (TC), Mazda6 (GL), MX-5 (ND) and CX-3 (DK).
Models affected include those built between 2017 and 2019, with the Japanese car-maker saying the low-pressure fuel pump impeller may become deformed and cause the fuel pump to stop working, which could result in the vehicle stalling.
The car-maker is encouraging owners to contact their local dealer for free replacement of the low pressure fuel pump.

The compliance label on 32 examples of Fiat’s 2021 Abarth 595 may be printed incorrectly, according to the Italian car-maker.
If the label is printed incorrectly, the vehicle will not be compliant with the Australian Design Rule 61/02 (Vehicle Marking) and consumers “may attempt to transport five occupants in the vehicle rather than four following the incorrect information on the label”, according to the recall.

Hyundai Palisade
Hyundai has recalled 217 examples of Hyundai Palisade large SUV (LX2 model code) over concerns surrounding its brake fluid.
All 2021-built variants of the Palisade are affected by the recall, with Hyundai saying the brake fluid could be contaminated.
Hyundai says this could cause the master cylinder inner cup seal to expand, resulting in reduced braking performance and therefore increasing the risk of an accident.

Kia Carnival
Kia has recalled a total of 7637 examples of the previous-generation Kia Carnival people-mover.
Affected models include all variants built between 2014 and 2016 (YP model code), with the Korean car-maker saying a software issue with the Smart Junction Box (SJB) means the turn signal may activate in the opposite direction of what the driver had intended, increasing the risk of an accident.

Lexus CT 200h
Lexus is calling back 2020-built examples of the Lexus CT 200h – a vehicle that is no longer available in new car showrooms due to its noncompliance with new side-impact regulations.
The Japanese car-maker says just two local examples of the model are affected by the recall, which is due to a manufacturing issue with the resin weld between the fuel tank and its inlet pipe.
Lexus says the resin could peel off, causing fuel to leak when the tank is full or being refuelled.

Mercedes-Benz has also announced a recall this month, affecting 193 examples of its new-generation MY21 Mercedes-Benz S 450 luxury sedan.
Benz says a software issue with the airbag control unit could deactivate the front passenger airbag.

RAM 3500
Ateco Automotive has issued a nationwide recall for new examples of the RAM 2500 and 3500 pick-up trucks, which the company brings to Australia and converts to right-hand drive.
A total of 373 examples are being recalled, all built in 2021, with Ateco saying a manufacturing issue could cause an electrical short in the intake air heater relay, even when the ignition is switched off. This could potentially result in a vehicle fire.

Subaru Outback
Subaru Outback
Subaru Australia has issued two separate recalls for the new-generation MY21 Subaru Outback.
The vehicles in question are all variants of the latest MY21 Subaru Outback, built from 2020-2021.
In the first recall which affects 5402 examples, Subaru says a software issue in the pre-collision braking system of the EyeSight driver assist safety suite may be activated unexpectedly, which could lead to an accident.
The second recall notice, which impacts 3769 Outback models, is due to a separate software problem that also affects braking.
According to Subaru, the incorrect software logic installed on the post collision brake control function may not operate as intended and fail to apply the brakes automatically after a collision.
“Failing to apply the brake automatically after a collision may lead to a second accident causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the recall notice said.

Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model 3
The US electric car-maker has announced a nationwide recall for 106 examples of the Tesla Model 3 small EV.
Those affected were built from 2019-2021, with Tesla saying the front suspension could fail.
“The front suspension lateral link on Model 3 vehicles is attached to the sub-frame using two fasteners. If a fastener is not secured to the correct specification, the fastener may loosen over time or separate from the sub-frame, which could cause the lateral link to separate from the sub-frame,” the company said.
Tesla says that could lead the wheel alignment shifting, which could in turn impact the vehicle controllability and increase the risk of a collision.
