Rare Harvest Gold 1955 Corvette Treated To Full Restoration
One of only 120 built, this gorgeous C1 deserves some attention.
Rare and Beautiful
As most Corvette fans are well aware, the 1955 model wasn’t built in any kind of significant quantity, with just 700 rolling off the assembly line in total. However, Harvest Gold 1955 Corvettes are even rarer, as just 120 were finished with that particular hue when they left the factory. The nicely restored example in this video from Barcroft Cars is one of that small lot, and it’s quite gorgeous to boot.
Extensive Redo
Tom, the owner of this particular 1955 Corvette, lives in Englewood, Colorado, and oversaw its two-year restoration that was one where no expense was spared, apparently. That includes a respray in its original Harvest Gold hue, which is what makes it so desirable in the first place.
Clean and Tidy
That color bleeds over into the cabin, where yellow also adorns the dash, steering wheel, and seats, while a green dashboard breaks things up a bit. The whole thing is incredibly clean and tidy, just as we’d expect from a pricey redo.
V8 Power
The other special thing about the 1955 Corvette, as most fans already know, is that it was the first to offer a V8 – a move that quite literally saved the sports car from an early grave. Its 265 cubic-inch motor isn’t a powerhouse by any means, but it did totally transform the Corvette in the eyes of enthusiasts.
Supreme Craftsmanship
The more powerful motor is mated to a three-speed manual transmission for a fun and lively experience, even if a car like this isn’t winning a whole lot of drag races these days. The other news here is that the engine bay is polished like a fine jewel, fitting right in with the supreme craftsmanship that’s present everywhere on this build.
Attention to Detail
Aside from taking it down to the bare fiberglass and redoing everything masterfully, the restoration process for this C1 also involved sourcing all original parts, right down to the correct rivets. That attention to detail certainly paid off in this case, even if the owner may never recover his total investment.
Keep It Going
Regardless, it’s clear that he isn’t interested in selling this rare Corvette just yet – and perhaps, ever. For now, he’s focused on keeping this piece of history alive for future generations to enjoy and learn from, and that’s more important than simply owning a cool car.
