RAM Trucks Australia has conjured up some serious magic to create the limited-edition RAM 1500 Warlock
There’s some black magic marching into Australia’s burgeoning full-size truck segment. RAM Trucks Australia has introduced the limited-edition RAM 1500 Warlock to its local range, bringing a new level of menace to its appearance as well as a long list of spellbinding new features.
Building on the brand’s Eats Ute for Breakfast tagline, the hungrier and angrier-looking RAM 1500 Warlock extends the four-door Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab’s go-anywhere, do-anything wizardry as the perfect companion for heavy-duty small businesses and adventure seekers.
The Voodoo of a Hemi V8
Unique to the class, the RAM 1500 Warlock is powered by a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 that produces 291kW of power, 556Nm of torque and that unmistakable muscle-car exhaust rumble.
The HEMI drives a multi-mode four-wheel drive transmission via an eight-speed automatic gearbox and has a class-leading 4.5-tonne towing braked-trailer capacity with trailer brake control for added safety. This makes the RAM 1500 Warlock ideal for those with heavy-duty jobs to do – whether that be taking equipment to the worksite on a trailer, exploring Australia with a large caravan or weekend warrior duties with a boat, jet skis, motorcycles or racecar.
Divine Driving Abilities
Key to the RAM 1500 Warlock ’s driving character and aggressive ready-for-action stance, is its standard factory-lift suspension.
Exclusive to the RAM line-up, the Warlock has an extra inch of ground clearance with unique blacked-out 20-inch alloy wheels tucked under sporty-looking fender flares.
There’s also tougher RAM Rebel front and rear bumpers for improved approach and departure angles, tough underbody protection and black full-length side steps/ rock rails.
The RAM 1500 Warlock, like its 1500 Express siblings, retains a part-time multi-mode four-wheel drive transmission with an anti-spin, limited slip differential rear axle to give it fair-dinkum Aussie-ready off-road capabilities.
Conjuring More Space From Nowhere
However, the real magic is in the RAM 1500 Warlock ’s cargo-carrying tricks.
Fitted as standard, the RAM 1500 Warlock’s 1712 x 1295mm tray comes with the ingenious RAMBOX Cargo Management system. A RAM Trucks exclusive feature, RAMBOX incorporates a lockable 210-litre storage container on each side of the tub.
The RAMBOX tubs are large enough for sports gear, motorcycle riding gear, fishing rods, chainsaws or toolboxes. They can even be used as a coolbox or esky while camping… Magic!
As with the other RAM 1500 models, including the trade-focussed Express Quad Cab, standard Express Crew Cab and the luxurious flagship Laramie, there’s no compromise to what it can carry either. With enough space between the wheel arches for a standard Australian pallet, the RAM 1500 Warlock’s tray comes complete with tub liner, lighting, four adjustable tie-down points and a tonneau cover.
The RAM 1500 RAM 1500 Warlock has a payload capacity of 820kg.
A Menacing Makeover
The RAM 1500 Warlock isn’t just tougher in what it can do, it is also more menacing in its appearance.
Highlighting its stance, the 5.7-litre Hemi V8 is cloaked under a unique twin-nostril bonnet featuring black hood stripes with a bolder RAM Rebel front grille and smoked headlamp covers announcing its presence.
Like the alloy wheels and fender flares, the front and rear bumpers and badging are all blacked-out. Unique decals on the flanks of the cargo tub announce the RAM 1500 Warlock presence.
An Enchanting Ambience
Step inside the RAM 1500 Warlock ’s cabin, however, and its sinister character transforms into a place of serenity and convenience.
The hugely spacious interior comfortably seats five adults in leather-trimmed seating and with all the mod-cons of a luxury sedan.
The driver has a 10-way electrically adjustable seat, part-digital instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch Multi-view display and multi-function three-spoke leather steering wheel. Passengers are treated to dual-zone climate control air conditioning and an 8.4-inch UCONNECT touch screen with sat nav, a six-speaker audio and smartphone mirroring with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are myriad storage solutions throughout, with a large centre console that features USB and AUX connections and rear seats that can store items under the cushion and fold flat for large items.
It’s Not a Fortune-Teller
The RAM 1500 Warlock is re-engineered for right-hand drive exclusively by Australia’s only Fiat Chrysler Automobiles authorised importer and manufacturer, RAM Trucks Australia in Victoria to exacting OEM standard. The initial batch will be offered in either Flame Red, Bright White or Patriot Blue with a second shipment arriving soon and extending the colour palette with a brighter Hydro Blue, Granite Crystal and Diamond Black.
While the RAM 1500 Warlock arrives near the pinnacle of the RAM 1500 line-up, tellingly it doesn’t cost a fortune with a price of $104,450 (plus on-roads).
Ram Trucks Australia’s RAM 1500 range is covered by a three-year/100,000km warranty including 24-hour roadside assistance, and is backed by a 55-plus strong national dealer network.
