rally supercar! lamborghini huracan sterrato officially debuts
The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato was initially just a concept, which debuted in 2019.

Lamborghini has finally launched its Huracan Sterrato off-roading supercar as a limited-run production model, years after its initial debut as a concept in 2019.

There have been changes since, but the overall design and philosophy remains the same – the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is a dirt and gravel flinging V10-powered Italian supercar that rejects traditions.

Its 5.2-litre V10, naturally aspirated, makes 412kW and 560Nm, which is slightly down on the concept’s projected figures of 470kW and 600Nm… but that’s not the point of the Sterrato.

The all-wheel-drive system, which gets power via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and has a rear mechanical self-locking diff, allows the Sterrato to hit 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds, heading to a top speed of 260km/h.

The all-wheel-drive system is tweaked from that of the standard road-going Lamborghinis to provide better traction and control on sandy surfaces.

Its Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics control system, called LDVI, is specific to the Sterrato, and features altered Strada and Sport modes compared to the Huracan Evo. It also has an extra mode, Rally, not found in the Evo.

Physically, the Huracan Sterrato is ready to venture off the tarmac thanks to extra ground clearance, of 44mm, plus wider track widths of 30mm and 34mm at the front and rear respectively.

Aluminium front underbody protection, reinforced sills, and wider wheel arches all exist to allow for more spirited off-road driving, as does the bonnet air intake which supplies cleaner air to the engine.

On the side of relatively standard Lamborghini elements are the ventilated and cross-drilled carbon-ceramic disc brakes, with aluminium fixed monoblock calipers (six pistons at the front, four at the rear), surrounded by 19-inch wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tyres, sized 235/40R19 at the front, and slightly wider 285/40R19 at the rear.

Lamborghini will build 1499 Huracan Sterratos, with production to kick off in February 2023.
