Quantron AG and Norwegian Hydrogen, a producer of green hydrogen and operator of hydrogen refuelling stations, have agreed on a five-year strategic collaboration to introduce hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in Scandinavia.
Norwegian Hydrogen is to be Quantron’s preferred hydrogen supplier in the Scandinavian countries, providing green hydrogen through its production facilities. The H2 filling stations there will be operated in future by a newly founded subsidiary called Vireon, the Augsburg-based company says. And: “The partnership aims to accelerate the transition towards zero-emission logistics in the Nordics, which include Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.” Quantron itself will take care of the provision of H2 trucks in these countries.
According to the company, the Quantron QHM FCEV heavy-duty truck “offers a range of up to 1,500 km, depending on customer requirements, making it ideal for long-distance transport. Through the cooperation with Norwegian Hydrogen, Quantron wants to transfer its business model called Quantron-as-a-Service to Scandinavia. Customers can have the entire ecosystem for hydrogen logistics provided as a service without high acquisition costs.
For CEO Michael Perschke, Quantron sets a new standard in emission-free transport of people and goods. “Our goal is to offer comprehensive solutions that not only include the vehicles themselves, but also energy deliveries and the necessary infrastructure. In Norwegian Hydrogen, we have found an excellent partner to achieve our ambitions in the Nordic market.”

Norwegian Hydrogen states its business content is to build and operate a network of hydrogen production facilities and distribution systems. The company says it is supported by a group of industrial owners including Flakk Group, Hexagon Purus, Hofseth International, Tafjord and Mitsui & Co. Norwegian Hydrogen is based in Ålesund, Norway, with offices in Oslo, Narvik, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
The recently founded subsidiary Vireon is to be positioned as the “leading hydrogen filling station operator in the Nordic countries for heavy-duty vehicles”. It is already engaged in building H2 refuelling stations for heavy commercial vehicles in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, it says.
